Weather conditions are ideal for visiting bhutan in all seasons except winter, which runs from December through February. Summer temperatures in the south are tropical with high monsoon rainfall. Rainfall in the higher central region is not so heavy. The days are clear and warm with cool nights.

Southern Tract:
The country is divided into three district tracts, between the southern foothills and the Himalayan crest, running from south to north; the Southern Tract, about 49-kms in width and consisting mainly of outer hills, receives as much as 300 inches raall annually. Dense vgetation clothes the hillsides.

Central Tract:
The Central Tract, about 64-kms in width consists of a number of valleys, at altitudes upto 3,048m, separated by high mountain ridges with gentler slopes and a rainfall of 60 inches a year. Most of the population is concentrated in this region, where are located the valleys of Punakha - the old capital, Paro - the trade centre and Thimpu - the new capital.
